Viola Arena

External Signage, Internal Signage, Wayfinding and POS

Background:

The iconic Ice Arena Wales agreed a five-year sponsorship back in December 2018 with business group Viola. To recognise the partnership, a full re-brand with the new name, “Viola Arena” was commissioned.

Requirements ranged from reception signage through to 3m high, illuminated lettering at the front of the arena.

Careful planning and structural calculations were imperative to delivering this project on time. The lettering alone required project management for the manufacturing, transportation, installation and illumination and as the arena was to remain open, we were faced with the challenge of ensuring all work carried out didn’t pose a health and safety risks to the general public.

The use of Crampons and the hiring of scissor lift equipment meant we were able to safely access the rink to install a suspended scoreboard and allowed us high access to electrical wiring.

Outcome:

The team worked on this project for four weeks, broken into two phases. The external illuminated “Viola Arena“ lettering took four days to construct and wire via a 12v led transformer that feed into the mains.

The outcome was spectacular. Viola’s striking branding is boldly represented throughout the Arena and the impressive illuminated lettering stands proud against the grey backdrop of the original building, day and night.

Sometimes a picture says a thousand words.

“The process of preparing a stadium for an ICC global event and then returning it to fit the needs of our own commercial partners is a complex operation. However, the team at Dragon Signs have been excellent in managing this process and the stadium looks fantastic with a capacity crowd in attendance for the Ashes and followed by a television audience around the world.

We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with the team at Dragon Signs since the early days of the partnership and we look forward to continuing this long-term relationship.”

“We are proud to call Dragon Signs one of our Associated Partners. The team are a pleasure to work with and the finished products are always exceptional. Dragon supply our grounds with signs inside and outside of the stadium, and the team were outstanding in supporting the Club during a major stadium re-brand that took place in both the COVID-19 pandemic, and a very short timeframe. Also, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the team provide us with branded infection control protective equipment.”

“We were looking for a partner to help us get people playing tennis. We have hundreds of tennis courts, superb volunteers, amazing coaches and facilities all across Wales. We’ve seen what Dragon Signs have done elsewhere and immediately knew they’d be great at working with us to help promote and market tennis in an innovative way to get people playing across Wales. Together we’re planning to modernise the way tennis looks to the local community and get people on court with their friends and family.”

Simon Johnson, Chief Executive of Tennis Wales
